hydrocodone seems to help my pain and give me a nice peaceful feeling when I take my Tylenol  4 with codeine just seems to make me sleepy dose nothing for my pain or my state of mind. If I take pure codeine will that work more like the hydrocodone ? Pure codeine is much more easy to get then hydrocodone

It depends on the person really because not everyone has as active receptors for the code, so for some people it doesn't seem to work at all or not as well, however for me I find it is very comparable but I have to take around 200 mgs to get the same affect 20 or 30 mgs of hydro will give me. Also hydro and tylonel together activate other chems in your brain code and tylonel do not, making it much better for pain relief.

Codeine can be very hit and miss, I don't think I've got all the enzymes, although it has some effect on me. Over here we don't get hydrocodone, but I use dihydrocodeine as an alternative to codeine and find that works better.

Problem with codeine is that re-dosing is very tricky, if you dose within 4 hours it will have no effect, since it inhibits itself, I believe, so you have to be careful of that. I don't think not having tylenol will make a difference, unless it is slowing down absorption...

to me... if you take Hydrocodone....codeine is weak.. at least it was for me.  When I took codeine without having Hydrocodone...for a long time...  It is ok.   I rarely take any form of codeine or hydrocodone  anymore....very rare....subscription of 15 for dental work or something..   But there use to be a day...when they sold them legally for very little credentials.  Laws were changed years ago.

I usually avoid codeine like the fuckin plague. Just never has agreed with me for whatever reason. However, that being said, and I run into you and you go, "hey John, I got some codeine if you want a few, or I also got some plague", you knows I'm gonna eats all your codienes up
