I'm currently rocking an IMac 27" 3.5ghz quad core i7

16GB DDR3 Ram

256 Solid state drive

Running purely music software/hardware DAW applications...

Although it's cracking on now, about 2 years?...

I will be in the market for a new one soon...

Got mine in Feb 2014 as I had to upgrade my girlfriend's computer (her motherboard died).   I had an i7 950 3.06ghz (also very fast) for about 3 years.  Those i7 are too fast :)   Still waiting for AMD to kick ass like they did with Athlon 64.....:)   I own a computer repair shop for a living.

I would like a 6 or 8 core i7 but then they cost way too much as of lates.

Ha you probably wont even notice a difference from your i7 iMac, if you just do casual stuff.
